THE EXTREME ECOLOGIST

HYBRID HYPE?

How much money do you really save from buying a hybrid? Does it make sense to buy a car that will clog the landfills in the next 10 years with discarded batteries from hybrid vehicles?

Why not buy an older 'used' fuel efficient car - a Honda, Toyota, or any 4 cylinder car. The cost will be lowered and there will be less batteries from hybrids filling the landfills.

EXTREME GREEN

In order to be truly green we should really depend on the bicycle. Not only is it good for the environment but it keeps us in shape as well.

Well let's see what I did so far - I junked my vehicle. I chopped the house into smaller units along with a community garden.

THE EXTREME ECOLOGIST

Grow your own

I refuse to buy food from so called organic shops. Is it really organic? Or is it a scam? I think most people are jumping on the 'organic' bandwagon.

More to come.

FROM 2,000 SQ. FT TO NOTHING

I owned a home that was 2,000 sq. feet, a pretty average home. I thought about buying a larger house, maybe 3,000 sq. ft. This was back in my delusional phase of life. The more I thought about it, the less sense it made. I was trying to qualify for a $600K + loan that I could barely qualify for. I would be living off of dog food for the next 30 + years so I did what a rationally thinking ecologist would do. I stayed put. Rented out the rest of the house, eliminated the garage and made the front and rear yard into a garden where we can be self sufficient. Even though I live in the suburbs we can supply our own food.

It feels liberating. But there is still more work to do.
