Hypocrites

I have to laugh at the idea of 'Benefit Concerts'. Who benefits from the concerts? Once the 'administrative' costs are taken away there is little of no benefit to anyone but the sponsors of the events (corporations).

I read an article about a benefit for the hungry. It was an all day concert. While the performers were talking about donating money to feed hunger other celebrities and the sponsors were dining on Lobster and Champagne! Talk about being hypocritical.

The last benefit concert that I won't name involved spreading the news about global warming. Well let's see, x amount of performers, technical crews, sponsors, the entourage, etc has to be jetted and driven to the concerts. I'll bet you that they weren't driving hybrids! Think about the amount of energy that's required to power the PA systems, lights and other assorted electrical goodies for a concert. How is that 'saving the environment?'

Why couldn't they have the concert at one location, with a small crew while the performers play on acoustic instruments?

Who really benefits from benefit concerts?
